There have long been debates on what is the profile that is most associated with risky driving behaviors, specifically those leading to increased risks in road traffic accidents (RTAs). Well funded researches examined prospectively the relation among risky driving behaviors, serious RTAs, and their corresponding psychological profiles.
The data statistics was from available size of 20,000 individuals who drive (1993 -2001). From these said availability 11,965 participants were included in this study. Driving behaviors and serious RTAs were recorded and a correlation analytics study was conducted. . Sociodemographic and alcohol consumption data were also input variables which were available from the annual follow-ups with the participants.
The impact of the various traits and psychopathologies on the risk of serious RTAs was assessed using the Cox proportional hazards regression model with time dependent covariates. After adjustment for potential confounders, it was discovered that the risk for serious RTAs increased proportionally with TABP scores: hazard ratios were 1.29 (95% confidence interval: 1.03, 1.63) for intermediate-level scores and 1.48 (95% confidence interval: 1.16, 1.90) for high-level scores relative to low TABP scores.
